Why Is My Event Time Different From the Time I Selected?

Julia EskinUpdated

EventLive automatically adjusts the time shown on the event page to match each viewer’s local time zone. This can sometimes cause confusion if you see a different time than the one you originally set. Here’s how it works and what you can do to make sure your event time is correct.

Invitation emails are different: they show the time in the event’s selected time zone. The points below explain what to check.

  • Event schedule: choose the date, time and timezone for the event’s location. This sets the same real start moment for everyone.
  • Guest event page: the displayed event time adjusts to the viewer’s local timezone.
  • Invitation emails: the event time is written in the event’s selected timezone. Check the timezone shown in the email rather than assuming it is your own local time.

For example, a 4:00 PM Eastern event can appear as 1:00 PM for a viewer in Pacific Time on the event page, while its invitation email still states the Eastern event time.

Check or correct the schedule

  1. Open the event details and check both the time and timezone.
  2. If the schedule is wrong and the event is still upcoming, update the date and time.
  3. When sharing a time separately in a message, include the timezone to avoid confusion.
