How to Add Team Members to Your Business Account
Yes, several people can work in one business account, each with their own sign-in. Invite colleagues, camera operators, a client or a family member who looks after the guestbook, to your whole account or to a single event, and choose what each person can do. Nobody shares your password, and you keep your plan, your purchases and your account. Team members are free, and there's no limit on how many you add.
What you need
- A business account. Teams is part of business accounts. See How To Switch from a Personal Account to a Business Account. The people you invite can use any EventLive account, personal or business, or create a free one.
- EventLive on the web at broadcaster.eventlive.pro, on a computer or in your phone's browser. The iPhone, iPad and Android apps get team accounts in an upcoming app update. Until then, the apps show only each person's own account. See Phone apps.
Invite someone
To your whole account:
- Open broadcaster.eventlive.pro and go to Profile → Team.
- Under Invite someone, enter their Email address.
- Choose a Role: Admin, Editor or Moderator. See Roles.
- Select Send invite.
To one event:
- Open the event and select People in the event menu.
- Under Invite someone to this event, enter their email address and choose a role.
- Select Send invite.
People invited to a multi-room event can work on every room of it. Test events don't have People: tests are always your own.
They get an email from EventLive saying you invited them to help with your account or the event, with an Accept invite button. The invite expires after 14 days.
The account holder and admins can invite people. An admin of one event can invite people to that event.
Accept an invite
- Open the invite email and select Accept invite. The invite opens in your browser and shows who invited you, to what, and your role.
- Accept:
- Signed in: select Accept as followed by your email address. To accept with a different EventLive account, select Use another account.
- Not signed in: select Sign in to accept. New to EventLive? Continue with your email to create a free account, then accept.
EventLive then opens the account or event you joined. Any EventLive account works, even if its email address isn't the one the invite went to, for example when you sign in with Apple or Google. You always sign in as yourself, and your own account and events stay yours.
Each invite link works once. If the page says the invite has expired, was already used or was withdrawn, ask for a new one.
Roles
Each role can do everything the one before it can.
- Moderator: sees the events and their links, and looks after guestbooks and chats: deletes messages and pins a message (Pinned message in the event's Guestbook or Chat).
- Editor: everything a moderator does, plus:
- going live and tests, and the stream keys in How to Go Live;
- event details: title, date, cover, branding, links, privacy and embed;
- the guest list and invitations in Guest List & Invite;
- video in Manage Video: uploading more video, trimming, downloads and the guestbook PDF;
- Event Analytics;
- creating events, as an editor of the whole account. When the account has enough credits, or the Unlimited plan, the new event is unlocked automatically, just as when the account holder creates one. Otherwise it's created locked, and an admin or the account holder unlocks it.
- Admin: everything the account holder can do, except buying credits, plans or storage, billing, and deleting the account. On top of what an editor does, that includes:
- removing guests;
- deleting or replacing recordings;
- deleting events and adding rooms;
- unlocking events with the account's credits. Admins of the whole account see the account's plan and credit balance on the dashboard;
- Sell Tickets, including connecting a Stripe payout account or choosing one the account's other events already use (see Use a Stripe account from another event). The account holder gets an email naming who connected it;
- Fundraising, and the fundraiser option when creating an event;
- managing the team: inviting people, changing roles and removing people.
- Account holder: the account's owner. They can do everything, including buying and billing, and can't be removed.
An invite to one event gives the same role on that event only, including all its rooms. An editor of one event can't create new events, and an admin of one event manages that event's people, not the account's team.
Work in a shared account
After you accept, you have your own account and the one you joined. Switch between them:
- In Profile: under Accounts, select My account or the account you joined. Your role shows next to its name.
- On your event list: under Shared with you, select the account's card. If you were invited to one event, the card opens that event.
While you work in someone else's account, a banner at the top says You're working in followed by the account's name and your role. Select Switch to my account to go back (on a phone, My account).
- Events you create go into the account you're working in.
- Test events you start stay in your own account, and are free as always.
- The support chat answers about the account you're working in and its events. Your chat history stays your own.
Phone apps
The iPhone, iPad and Android apps get team accounts in an upcoming app update. Until then, invite people, accept invites and work in shared accounts on the web at broadcaster.eventlive.pro, on a computer or in your phone's browser.
After the update:
- Invite links still open in your browser. Once you accept, the app shows the account under Profile → Accounts and under Shared with you on your event list.
- The You're working in banner shows on the event list and on the event's screen.
Manage the team
The account holder and admins manage the team in Profile → Team, and the people on one event in People in that event's menu. An event's People also lists the Account team: people who can work on every event in the account.
- Pending invites are listed under Invites and marked Invited, with the date each one expires.
- Send an invite again: select the envelope next to it. The new email has a new link, the earlier links stop working, and the 14 days start again.
- Withdraw an invite: select the trash can next to it, then Withdraw invite. The link in their email stops working.
- Change a role: select the pencil next to someone, choose the new role and select Save role. To change the role on an invite that hasn't been accepted yet, withdraw it and send a new one.
Remove someone
- Select the trash can next to the person. A window opens with their name, for example Remove Sam Lee?
- Choose what happens to the stream keys:
- Change the stream keys too (selected, recommended): upcoming events that haven't streamed yet get new keys. For someone invited to one event, that's the event and its rooms.
- Keep the stream keys: encoders set up with the current keys keep working, and so would anyone who copied one.
- Select Remove. They lose access to the account, or to the event, right away.
Changing the keys is recommended because the person may have seen them, and a stream key lets anyone stream to the event. The old key can keep working for up to about 10 minutes after the change. Events that have already streamed or have video keep their keys.
After the keys change, update any encoder, OBS or camera link with the new key from the event's How to Go Live. See How to Go Live Using RTMP.
Events a removed person created stay in your account.
Leave an account
To stop working in someone else's account, open Profile and, under Accounts, select Leave next to it. Confirm with Leave. You'd need a new invite to get access again.
FAQs
How much does it cost? Nothing. Team members are free and don't need to pay or buy a plan. Events they create or unlock use the account's credits or plan, as yours do. See How do Event Credits Work?
How many people can I add? As many as you like: there are no seat limits. You can send up to 20 invites a day, counting invites you send again, and have up to 50 invites waiting to be accepted at once.
Do team members need a business account? No. They accept with any EventLive account, personal or business, or create a free one. Only the account they join needs to be a business account.
I have a personal account. Can I add team members? Teams is part of business accounts. Choose Business as your account type in Profile → Update Profile, then open Profile → Team. See How To Switch from a Personal Account to a Business Account. To stream from a second phone on a personal account, see Add Another Camera Angle.
Does it work in the iPhone, iPad and Android apps? Not yet. The apps get team accounts in an upcoming update. Until then, use the web at broadcaster.eventlive.pro, on a computer or in your phone's browser. See Phone apps.
Can a team member buy credits or a plan? No. Buying credits, plans and storage, billing, and deleting the account are for the account holder only. Admins can unlock events with the credits the account already has, and admins of the whole account see the balance.
Who gets the ticket payouts? The Stripe account connected to the event in Sell Tickets, never the team member's EventLive account. Admins can connect a Stripe payout account, and the account holder gets an email naming who connected it. See How to Sell Tickets for a Livestream Event.
Can I be on more than one team? Yes. Accept each invite, and switch between the accounts in Profile or from Shared with you on your event list.
