Add Another Camera Angle: Stream One Event from Up to Three Phones

Julia EskinUpdated

Film the same moment from more than one angle, for example the couple from the front and the aisle from the back, or the stage and the family. Each extra camera is another phone, tablet or camera streaming at the same time. Guests keep your one event link and switch between the angles in the player.

What you need

  • The EventLive iPhone app, version 4.3.2 or later, or EventLive on the web at broadcaster.eventlive.pro. The Android app gets extra cameras in a later update.
  • One device for each camera that streams at the same time: your phone, a friend's phone or a tablet. One phone can't stream two cameras.
  • An event that isn't a test event and hasn't ended.

An event can have up to 3 cameras: your event (Camera 1) and 2 more.

On a business account, add the angles as rooms called Camera instead. See Multi-Room Events.

Add a camera

  1. Open your event.
  2. In the event menu, select Add Another Camera Angle.
  3. Select Add Camera 2. Your event becomes Camera 1 and keeps its link. The new one is Camera 2.

For a third angle, select Add Another Camera Angle again.

What an extra camera costs

Each extra camera is $35 in the US (CA$35 in Canada, £25 in the UK, €29 in euro countries, and a local price elsewhere), whatever replay length you choose for your event. For an event of several days, it's that price for each day.

An extra camera keeps your event's replay: it stays online as long as Camera 1, and its recording can be downloaded too.

Like your event, a camera has to be unlocked before it can go live:

  • Your event isn't unlocked yet: choose how long to keep the replay as usual, then select Unlock 3 cameras (or Unlock 2 cameras). One tap pays for your event and its cameras. On an iPhone, the App Store asks you to confirm twice: first your event, then the cameras. If you cancel the second one, your event stays unlocked, and you can unlock the cameras from the event at any time.
  • Your event is already unlocked: open your event and unlock the cameras. The button says Unlock Camera 2 (or Unlock 2 cameras), and only the cameras are charged.

Stream each camera

  • Camera 1 goes live like any event: select Go Live in the app.
  • Camera 2 and Camera 3: open the camera's How to Go Live. Scan its QR code with the other phone, or select Send the link and open the link on that phone. The EventLive app opens ready to stream that camera, without signing in to your account. Send each link only to the person who will hold that phone.
  • The cameras can start and stop at different times. If one stops, the others keep streaming.

What guests see

  • One link: guests use your event link. The cameras play in one player, and guests switch angles with the buttons in the player, which stay visible in full screen, or with the row of cameras below it. This works live and in the replay.
  • One guestbook: messages stay together, whichever camera guests watch.
  • One ticket: if you sell tickets, one ticket covers every camera. There's no separate ticket per camera.
  • Every angle afterwards: each camera keeps its own recording, and the download page has every angle.
  • Emails: only Camera 1 sends reminders and the go-live email.

Rename or delete a camera

  • Rename: open the camera and select the pencil on its button in the camera switcher (at the top of the event screen on a phone, above the event menu on a computer). The camera's link stays the same.
  • Delete: open the camera and select Delete Camera 2 in its menu. Delete the extra cameras before you delete your event.

Questions

Is this the same as switching cameras in OBS or EventLive for Mac? No. There, you switch between cameras and everyone watches one edited feed. With extra camera angles, every camera is its own stream and each guest picks the angle. See How To Use Multiple Cameras for Live Streaming.

Can I add more than 3 cameras? Not on a personal account. Business accounts can add up to 10 rooms or cameras per event.

Does each phone need the EventLive app? Yes. Install the EventLive app on every phone that streams a camera. The phones that use Send the link don't need your password.
