How to Check If Your Device Has Enough Storage for Streaming

Julia EskinUpdated

Before streaming with the EventLive app, make room for your local backup and check that your phone is running comfortably. A low-storage warning can mean the backup stops even while live video continues.

Check free space

  • iPhone: open Settings → General → iPhone Storage.
  • Android: open Settings → Storage or Device care; names vary by device.
  • EventLive: run a free Test Live session. The indicator shows how many hours of footage can be recorded; tap it to see how many GB remain.

How much do I need?

The amount depends on recording quality, device and event length. Higher-resolution backups use more space. Treat any time estimate as a guide and leave a generous margin for the whole event rather than relying on a fixed GB-per-hour figure.

Free up space before the event

Move important footage somewhere safe, remove files you no longer need, and empty the recently deleted/trash folder after checking its contents. Remove unused downloads or apps if needed. Do not delete the only copy of a recording you want to keep.

What happens when space runs low?

EventLive stops local recording when free storage reaches 1 GB so the phone does not become severely full. The live stream can continue, but check both its live status and the local recording indicator. EventLive’s server recording contains the video received over the internet; it cannot replace footage that was never transmitted.

Watch the recording indicator and warnings separately from the live status. If space becomes a problem during the event, avoid leaving the streaming app to delete files unless you are ready for an interruption. Plan a safe break or another tested device where possible.

After the stream, verify your local and server recordings before removing any files. See recording while streaming.
