# How To Live Stream with Professional Cameras Using EventLive

You can stream to EventLive with a professional camera, a compatible webcam, or an encoder. The usual route is a camera connected to a computer running OBS Studio, or a hardware encoder that sends one finished feed to EventLive.

## Option 1: Camera and computer

1. Check how your camera supplies live video: a supported USB webcam mode, manufacturer webcam software, or HDMI through a compatible capture card.
2. Install the required camera software or connect the capture card. Confirm the camera is powered and in the correct video mode.
3. Open [OBS Studio](https://obsproject.com/download) or your compatible streaming software and add the camera as a source.
4. Choose the audio source. Some camera-to-computer connections do not carry audio, so you may need a separate microphone.
5. Open your EventLive event, choose **How to Go Live → RTMP**, and copy its server URL and stream key into the software.
6. Rehearse with a free test event before switching to the real event’s details.

## Option 2: Hardware encoder or switcher

A compatible hardware encoder can send an RTMP stream without a computer. Check the exact model: camera inputs, source switching, built-in encoding and network features differ. A switcher without a built-in encoder still needs a computer or separate encoder.

## Camera and equipment resources

Check the manufacturer’s current supported cameras, operating systems, drivers and connection instructions before choosing a setup. A webcam mode or utility may work only with specific models. Older beta labels and operating-system lists should not be treated as current compatibility guarantees.

## Rehearse and troubleshoot

- **No camera picture:** check power, video mode, output settings, cables and capture-card recognition. Test the picture in your streaming software before connecting to EventLive.
- **No sound:** select the correct audio input and watch the meters. Listen from a separate viewing device with headphones.
- **Picture in the encoder but not EventLive:** check the event’s RTMP details, publication status and scheduled streaming window.
- **Unstable video:** use a reliable connection, preferably wired where available. Some encoder setups offer bonded connections; check their requirements and subscriptions rather than assuming every device includes bonding.

Assign someone to monitor the stream. Rehearse the complete setup at the venue with a free test event before the real broadcast.

## Choose settings for your connection

For best results, use a wired internet connection. With professional equipment or streaming software, you are responsible for choosing settings your internet connection can sustain. If the stream is unstable, lower the video bitrate and, if necessary, the resolution in your encoder, then test again. The EventLive app adjusts its streaming bitrate automatically. If you cannot get your encoder setup working reliably, use the EventLive app on a phone instead.

## Already streaming from a church or venue?

If your church or venue already has an RTMP streaming setup, you can use it with EventLive. Open your event’s RTMP details and set your software or encoder’s destination to the EventLive server URL and stream key. Use a free test event’s details for rehearsal, then switch to the real event’s details for the broadcast.
